in progress.... pending approval- didn't happen.
However, I did make the matrials and an extra differentiated bellwork. ugg. |
Lesson Specific Comments
Don't forget the SIGNS for the reference angles!!
If time runs out for exit slips have them write what they think they can do on the group activity |
Don't forget to remind them about the group assignment.
I actually ended up not being able to do the calculator wars or section 2.3 b/c I need to reteach/ show a different way to think of the special angles- Bell work was a multitriangle problem. I introduced the unit circle from a reference angle perspective- - I gave them blank paper and had them draw 4 small graphs and one big one. Graph 1: starting by looking at the signs in each quadrant, and how to find the reference angle Graph 2: then at all angles with a 30 reference angle, (using special triangles)- looks like a bowtie. Graph3: 45 degree angles Graph 4: 60 and Graph 5: whole unit circle didn't have time to quiz them on using the angles. I also did a poor job of explaining the reference angles. (messed up Q3 with theta-180) |
General Comments/ Suggestions
I'm a little worried that students aren't going to learn b/c I'm not doing much lecturing this week- much more exploration and working of problems. Hopefully this isn't a bad decision...
There hasn't been much "real-world" engagement this week.... however, I feel that the exitslip/bell work is helping student learn. Since this is a 'college' course/ the students are more motivated, I think this is working out... kinda struggling with how to incorperate 5-E. I don't think it works here.
Mr K suggested I stop depending on the few volunteers and start telling people the day before I am going to call on them or selecting volunteers at random.
